1 Day 3 Great Racers

If you look at my last post I reported on how Dan Wheldon won the Indy 500. Well on Sunday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on lap 13 he was involved in a crash that took 15 of 34 cars out of the race. Dan flew cockpit first into the catch fence and the bursting into flames. He later died at the hospital at the age of 33. The race was stopped. The remaining 19 drivers then performed a 3 car wide 5 lap tribute to him. I also heard today that Lucas Oil Off Road Series drivers Rick and Jeff Huseman both also died in a small plane crash at about 2:00pm on Sunday.

A Crazy Day in Motorsports

INDY 500- On the last turn of the last lap at the the Indianapolis Motor speedway the leader JR Hildebrand crashes and opens the door for Dan Weldon the 2005 winner to win the race, it was the wildest finish since 2006 when Sam Hornish came from behind Micheal Andretti to win the closest race in Indy 500 history.

Coca-Cola 600- Dale Earnhardt Jr leading the race into the final turn, can he finally break the losing streak of 104 races? In the middle of the turn he starts slowing, he is out of gas! This opens the door for Kevin Harvick to win. This was the second time this year Harvick would take the win away from Dale Jr thinking back to Martinsville.
